Sunset on Windows XP

Microsoft has announced that it will no longer sell Windows XP after May 31, 2009. Many vendors have inventory that may last as long as six months but no one knows for sure. If you’re thinking about purchasing new computers and you wish to avoid the headaches of Windows Vista, now would be a great time – prices are low with the crummy economy we’re in.

The next Microsoft operating system will be called Windows 7. It is scheduled to be released in October of this year. I have been testing a beta version for a couple weeks. Unfortunately it looks and feels just like Windows Vista, but I’m happy to report that my preliminary findings are that Windows 7 is more stable and faster than Windows Vista. However, my tests are very limited, so I cannot make any predictions or recommendations at this time.

Windows Vista vs. Windows XP
